#type/zk/zettel #a/maturity/seed # Where does [[universal compassion]] come from? Do you want to see your mom suffer? Do you want to see an innocent child suffer? Do you want to see a cat suffer? We (all?) have an [[Innate ability|innate ability]] of [[Compassion|compassion]] towards those who we think do not deserve to suffer. When you realize that [[Nobody deserves to suffer|nobody deserves to suffer]], you find that compassion for everyone is left. > [!comment] [[2024-09-13]] > True universal compassion is if you fully realize and embody the fact that there is no distinction between self and other. Without that distinction, you cannot choose yourself over another or another over yourself. (It might seem like you choose others over yourself, but that is because you have confidence in your liberation that you won’t suffer from it) - - - *Extended notes:* Everybody roots for the character they think deserves happiness. Nobody roots for unjustness. Perceived justness is subjective. Real justice is (probably?) absolute. Now we know why compassion to those we love extends to all beings. But where does the innate ability come from then? It preceded religion, unlike some may argue. Some things are human nature, we can find out through inner reflection. --- Sowed on:: [[2023-11-14|2023-11-14]] Sources:: See also:: Further reading::
